The 15th annual Classic Yacht Race will be held on Saturday August 1, 2009. The race is open to a wide variety of boat designs and sizes with a diverse representation of sailing rigs. .

The race is open to all boats 22 feet LOA and over. It's a fun race with a simple handicap system and simplified racing rules. Previous racing experience is not necessary. The owners of any and all cruising boats are encouraged to enter. The object of this race is to create a spectacle of sailing vessels on Mahone Bay and to allow crews to be part of the festival.

Boats with gaff-rigged mains, Bermuda, cat - almost any type of sailing rig can be expected at the starting line. The start/finish line is in the outer Mahone Harbour and the course takes the yachts on a sail through the nearby islands. Details of the race course will be available at the skippers' meeting to be held on the festival wharf at 1100h. Race start is 1300h.

If you are interested in competing, registration will be at the skippers' meeting on Saturday. Entry forms will also be available at the festival office prior to the festival. In the event of inclement weather, the race may be held on Sunday, August 2.
